When the words oils and fats are mentioned, health conscious people tend to take cover. What they don’t realize is that there are good fats and bad fats. In fact, completely avoiding the intake of oils and fats would be more harmful than beneficial to their health.
The truth about fish oil
Essential fatty acids should always be part of our daily diet – without them, we are one step closer to death. Essential fatty acids are divided into two families: omega-6 EFAs and omega-3 EFAS.
While there are only very minor differences in distinguishing the two groups of essential fatty acids, studies have shown that an excessive intake of omega-6 EFAs can lead to inflammation, blood clotting and tumor growth. The good news, however, is that the opposite is true for omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-6 EFAs can be found in vegetable oils, while omega-3 EFAs can be found in fish oil, among other foods.

Doctors and scientists agree that the cause of increasing cases of heart disease, hypertension or high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, premature aging and certain cancers is nothing more than an unbalanced intake of omega-3 and omega-6. EFAs.
As mentioned earlier, omega-6 EFAs can be found in vegetable oils. This includes, but is not limited to, corn oil and soybean oil, both of which contain high amounts of linoleic acid. Omega-3 EFAs, on the other hand, can also be found in marine plankton and in walnut and flaxseed oils. The two essential fatty acids, EPA and DHA, are also helpful in the prevention of atherosclerosis, heart attacks, depression and various cancers. Fish oil supplemented foods have also been shown to be useful in the treatment of diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, Raynaud’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

Making the heart healthier
The heart is undeniably one of the most important parts of our body, and an unhealthy heart means a fairly limited life span. It is, of course, in our best interest to keep our hearts happy and healthy and one way to do that is to eat foods that contain fish oil.
Fish gets thin
In Perth, Australia, a study had shown that fish consumption can be used against high blood pressure and obesity. Researchers at the UWA (University of Western Australia) have found that a weight-loss diet with a regular amount of fish consumption can be quite effective in lowering blood pressure and improving glucose tolerance.
Fish oil to fight asthma
People with respiratory problems such as asthma are often perceived as unsuitable and unhealthy. They should now be happy to learn that certain studies have shown the benefits of fish oil for people with asthma. Statistics show that about 20 to 25% of children today suffer from some form of asthma at some point in their lives. And certain evidence reveals a regular diet with foods high in linoleic acid as the reason behind it.
Researchers from UW (University of Wyoming) conducted a study by subjecting some children to a diet rich in fish, while others continued their normal diet. The results showed that the participants who ate more fish were less prone to asthma attacks and were also able to breathe more easily.
